Code of Conduct

Overview

All attendees, instructors, staff, vendors and volunteers at ILHC are required to agree with the following code of conduct. Sponsors are also subject to our code of conduct. Organizers will enforce this code throughout all ILHC events and programs. We expect cooperation from all participants to help ensure a safe environment for everybody.

ILHC is dedicated to providing a harassment-free event experience for everyone, regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, age, disability, physical appearance, body size, or religion (or lack thereof).

We do not tolerate harassment of participants in any form. Harassment includes offensive verbal comments, sexual images in public spaces, deliberate intimidation, stalking, following, harassing photography or recording, sustained disruption of talks or other events, inappropriate physical contact, and unwelcome sexual attention.

Sexual language and imagery in social situations is not appropriate for any event venue, including dances, workshops, competitions, and online media.

Options for help

  • Email safespaces@ilhc.com
  • Find an organizer in-person via the front desk at any event

We treat these issues with the strictest confidentiality. Your courage in coming forward can keep incidents from being repeated. ILHC staff will be happy to help participants contact the organizers, hotel/venue security, or local law enforcement. ILHC staff is also happy to provide escorts or otherwise assist those experiencing harassment to feel safe for the duration of the event. We value your attendance and your safety.

Enforcement

If a participant engages in harassing behavior, the organisers may take any action they deem appropriate, including warning or sanctioning the offender, or expulsion from the event without refund at the discretion of the event organizers.

Participants asked to stop any harassing behavior are expected to comply immediately.

If you are being harassed, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns, please contact a member of the ILHC staff immediately.

We expect participants to follow these rules at event and workshop venues and event-related social events.
